KOKLEONG'S GIANT YANKEE JOURNEYBackground info 1: NYNY has this challenge in which if you can finish the Giant Yankee Burger (8 inch wide burger served on a bed of fries, worth $32.90) within an hour, they won't charge you for the meal and your photo will even go on their wall! Only one person in the whole of Singapore (girl somemore) has managed to complete the challenge.
Background info 2: When he was in Primary 3, at a Pizza Hut buffet Kokleong polished off 3 large pizzas and a few other side dishes like garlic bread and stuff.
6.45pm Kokleong, with an entourage of 2 people, walks into NYNY at Lot 1, where everyone else is already waiting for him.
7.00pm We place orders. Friendly waitress happily dishes out cotton candy to us, and seems staggered when we inform her that Kokleong wants to try the challenge.
7.05pm Ahbeng-looking waiter comes and informs Kokleong about the rules etc of the challenge (like, must finish in 1 hour, must sit at a table by yourself) and also seems a little bowled over.
7.10pm Ahbeng-looking waiter invites Kokleong to sit at a small table near the entrance of the restaurant. We all follow to give him moral support and abandon our own food.
7.20pm Burger arrives. Burger not as big as expected but we are all stunned by the HUMONGOUS portion of fries. Kokleong starts eating. Ziyi stays by his side to watch because he is also considering trying the challenge, while the rest of us go back to finish our food.
7.30pm Kokleong polishes off half of the burger within 10 minutes.
7.35pm Kokleong says he has "heartburn" from eating too quickly, but still continues to chomp on. Waiters and waitresses look flabbergasted at the speed of his eating whenever they walk past. Ziyi decides not to try the challenge. Even I feel a bit sick just by looking at the amount of food and the speed at which Kokleong is coolly eating.
7.36pm Kokleong finishes the third quarter of his burger (1/4 of burger left!) and starts on his fries.
7.45pm Kokleong starts to slow down but is still steadily chomping on his food. Shrugs when asked how full he is. When asked, "50% full?" he says, "Around there la." Waiters all smile at Kokleong and show him the thumbs-up sign when they walk past. Ahbeng-looking waiter even comes to massage his shoulders (not in the way you are thinking!) and asks him to jiayou.
7.55pm Kokleong finishes the last of his burger and starts on his mountainous pile of fries. Starts to gulp water down because of his heartburn. The rest of us are happily eating cotton candy while watching him eat.

8.00pm Still eating fries.
8.05pm Still eating fries. 15 minutes more to go. Kokleong shows signs of giving up because he still has 3/4 of his pile of fries to go.
8.10pm Still eating fries. Kokleong says he's sick of the fries already, it's very ni3 (I dunno what's the English equivalent for the word, hahaha)
8.15pm Ahbeng-looking waiter comes by to tell Kokleong he has 5 minutes left. There's still half of the fries left. Kokleong shows signs of despair and tells us he cannot finish them already, but continues to shovel them into his mouth, one by one.
8.17pm Kokleong resigns himself to his fate but still continues to eat his fries veryyyyy slowlyyyyyy.
8.20pm Ahbeng-looking waiter comes to tell Kokleong his time is up and asks him for his after-meal feelings. The rest of us happily eat the remaining fries. No wonder Kokleong had such a hard time eating it, it has gone cold and is very unappetising. Kokleong says he never wants to eat french fries again.

Haha pardon me if the photo quality is kinda bad. The scanner made it a lil worse. :/ This is my first try at a B&W film camera and I kinda like it :) The darkroom processing was pretty tedious coz almost more than half of the work has to be done in complete darkness (you can't see your fingers ;) ) Took around 3 hrs to learn and process at the same time today. You guys can rip the photo of this blog if you don't mind the resolution. Alternatively, approach me on msn for the original 85.2mb photo if you wanna wahahaha!
